Uttarakhand: PM Modi Inaugurates Re-Development Projects Worth Rs 130 Cr

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated various redevelopment projects worth Rs 130 crore in Kedarnath. These projects include Saraswati Retaining Wall Asthapath and Ghat, Mandakini Retaining Wall Asthapath, Tirtha Purohit House and Garuda Chatti Bridge over Mandakini River.

Earlier today, he unveiled the statue of Adi Shankaracharya in the Kedarnath temple complex in the Rudraprayag district. The Samadhi of Adi Shankaracharya has been reconstructed after it was destroyed in the 2013 Uttarakhand floods.

Before the inauguration, the Prime Minister offered prayers and performed ‘aarti’ at the ancient temple. He bowed down to Lord Shiva and after offering prayers he circumambulated the Kedarnath temple.

Situated on the banks of river Mandakini, the Kedarnath temple is one of the four ancient pilgrimage sites called ‘Char Dham’ which also includes Yamunotri, Gangotri and Badrinath.

Built-in the 8th century AD by Jagad Guru Adi Shankaracharya, Kedarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public rally during his visit to the shrine. His visit comes ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls in the state.
