War Will Likely Be Over By Early May, Russia Will Run Out Of Resources: Ukraine

Mumbai: Oleksiy Arestovich, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, has said that the war in Ukraine is likely to be over by early May when Russia runs out of resources

Negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow – in which Erestovich is not personally involved – have so far produced little results, except in Ukrainian cities surrounded by several humanitarian corridors.

In a video published by several Ukrainian media, Erestovich said the exact timing would depend on how many resources the Kremlin was willing to give to the campaign.

“I think in early May, in early May, we should make a peace agreement, probably much earlier, we will see, I am talking about the latest possible dates,” Erestovich said.

“We are now at a fork in the road: either very soon there will be a peace deal, within a week or two, with the army and everything is withdrawn, or there will be an attempt to scrape together some, say, Syrians for around two and, when we grind them too, an agreement by mid-April or late April.”

He said a “completely insane” scenario could also involve sending Russia afresh after a month of training.

Nevertheless, once peace is agreed upon, smaller strategic conflicts lasting up to a year may be possible, according to Erestovich, although Ukraine insists on the complete removal of Russian troops from its territory.

The war in Ukraine began on 24 February when Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a “special military operation”, the largest attack on a European state since World War II.
