Water Supply In Mumbai To Be Affected On Tuesday, Wednesday Over Repair Works

Mumbai: Water supply in Mumbai will be affected today and tomorrow owing to the repair works being undertaken by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at pumping stations in Bhandup and Pise Panjrapur complexes.

According to BMC officials, maintenance work is scheduled to replace two sluice valves of 1,200 mm diameter at the 1910 MLD pumping station at the Bhandup campus and the Stage 3 pump set at the Pai Panjrapur campus. In addition, the BMC also plans to prevent leakage in the 1,800 mm diameter main waterway.

Along with this, there will be a 15 per cent water cut in the entire city and suburbs between 10 am and 10 pm on Tuesday. It is also proposed to stop leakages in Powai from 10 am on Tuesday and Wednesday to 10 am the next day. As a result of this, there will be a complete stoppage of water supply in K/East, S, G/North and H/East wards of BMC.

The areas affected by the water cut include Chakala, Prakash Wadi, Ramakrishna Mandir Road, JB Nagar, Bagarkha Road, Kanti Nagar in East Ward, Dharavi Main Road, Ganesh Mandir Road in G North and Bandra Terminal in H/East Ward. . In view of the situation, the BMC has appealed to the citizens to cooperate by storing enough water in their homes for Tuesday and Wednesday.

“All citizens are requested to store water and cooperate with BMC,” news agency PTI reported.

Earlier, the BMC had announced a cut in water supply in some areas of the city from October 5-7. The decision to cut off the water supply was taken by the BMC due to routine maintenance work.

The BMC has been undertaking routine maintenance work to ensure the city keeps receiving good quality water in sufficient amounts.
