West Bengal: 2,300 Students Stranded In Kota Arrived Home

Mumbai: About 2,300 students that were stranded in Kota were brought back home on Friday via buses. The students arrived in Siliguri, Asansol, and Kolkata of West Bengal through 84 buses.

Speaking to ANI, Goutam Deb, State Tourism Minister said, “Mamata Banerjee has taken all initiatives to bring back the stranded students from Kota. She contacted the Rajasthan chief minister. A total of 2300 students via 84 buses have come back to West Bengal from Kota.”

A long struggle of proposals from the state government of West Bengal has finally become fruitful. The decision came after the MHA allowed the movement of students, laborers, and other migrants stranded in the states.

The Student temperature was tested upon arrival as a preventive measure against Covid-19 in Siliguri.

“I am very happy to be back in my hometown. In Kota, Covid-19 cases are surging so several States were taking initiatives to bring back the stranded people”, says Pallavi Roy to the ANI.

“We were thinking that why our government is not taking any initiative. So we were requesting our State government to take some steps. I am grateful to Rajasthan and West Bengal Governments,” she added.

Meanwhile, the nationwide lockdown has been extended to two weeks levying considerable relaxations in the Green and Orange zone areas.

India stands to the figure of 37,257 cases, 10,007 recoveries, and 1,223 deaths recorded recently.
