West Bengal Reports Record Spike Of 20,839 COVID Cases, 129 Deaths

Bengal: The Bulletin of the Health Department said that West Bengal on Thursday recorded its highest one-day spike in 20,839 COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 10,73,956.

The death toll also rose to 12,857 as 129 more people died due to coronavirus.

In total, 19,181 people had recovered from the disease since Wednesday, with a total number of 9,30,886. The bulletin states that there are currently 1,30,213 active cases in West Bengal.

In the latest fatalities, 39 people died in Kolkata and 25 in the North 24 Parganas district. The remaining deaths have taken place in several other districts. The highest number of 4,131 new cases were registered in the North 24 Parganas district, followed by Kolkata with 3,924 cases.

A total of 70,473 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the state since Wednesday, the bulletin said.
