West Bengal Violence: Mamata Blames BJP For Circulating Old Videos

Mumbai: A few days after the political violence began in West Bengal after the assembly election results were declared, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said such incidents could not be tolerated and slammed BJP for broadcasting fake incidents through old videos.

She further said that there are more disturbances in places where BJP has won.

BJP is circulating about fake incidents through old videos. I appeal to all political parties to stop this. You all have done a lot during the elections. Bengal is a place of unity,” she issued an appeal.

The TMC supremo was sworn in as the CM of West Bengal for the third time in a row and vowed not to provide “relief” to those who spread political violence in the state since the election results were announced.

Banerjee, referring to incidents of violence, said that he would deal with the law and order situation from today and deal with them vigorously, calling it the second priority after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will not give respite to anyone (perpetrators of violence), and do everything to restore law and order,” PTI quoted her as saying.

In the third consecutive victory in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress won 213 seats in the Assembly Elections, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

The BJP managed to bag 77 seats in the 294-seat state assembly. Banerjee will be taking oath as the state CM for the third consecutive term on Wednesday.
