Mumbai: A woman was arrested for allegedly running a prostitution racket in Hyderabad’s Jawaharnagar area on Thursday. The accused, identified as Sirigadi Aruna, roped in women from Andhra Pradesh on the pretext of providing a livelihood and forced them into prostitution.
The accused, identified as Sirigadi Aruna, has been involved in human trafficking and prostitution since 2019.
The accused took part of the rent in the limits of Jawaharnagar, where he took women from Andhra Pradesh and forced them into prostitution while welcoming the customers. The accused extorted huge amounts from the customers.
Aruna threatened the girls with the promise of livelihood and pushed them into prostitution. He is already facing trial for being accused of human trafficking.
The police rescued the victim and sent her to the rehabilitation centre. Aruna has been arrested and kept in a special jail for women.
