Won’t Disturb New Govt, It Must Work For Public, Says Sanjay Raut

Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday alleged that the BJP had vowed to “harass” the Uddhav Thackeray government on the day it came to power in 2019, said that his party would not do the same and the new administration “must work for the public”.

Talking to the media, Raut said, ‘I congratulate this government. I welcome them. When Uddhav Thackeray’s government came, he was saying from day one that he would trouble them. Asked whether the party has weakened and whether disgruntled MLAs would be happy with Eknath Shinde becoming the chief minister now, he said, “I don’t think our organization has ever weakened…no one is upset.” Also Read: I Think Fadnavis Didn’t Accept Maha Deputy CM Post Happily: Pawar

Meanwhile, Raut has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case.

Raut is being probed in connection with the re-development of Mumbai’s Patra Chawl. In April this year, the ED had attached immovable properties worth Rs 11.15 crore, including a flat at Dadar, held by Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha and eight land parcels at Kihim near Alibag, jointly held by the latter with Swapna Patkar, in connection with the redevelopment scam. Swapna is the wife of Sujit Patkar, a close associate of the Sena leader.
