Mumbai: A 16-year-old tribal girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by five people in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district, police said. Five persons have been arrested in connection to the case. Also Read: 15-Yr-Old Runaway Girl From B’luru Molested On Train In Mumbai, 1 Arrested
Jashpur Superintendent of Police Vijay Aggarwal said the incident took place when the minor girl had gone to attend a marriage function in a village in the district on February 17. Also Read: Auto Driver Takes 24-Year-Old Nurse To Isolated Area In Mumbai, Flashes Himself To Her
“After the dance program some acquaintances caught hold of her and took her to the forest, where she was gang-raped,” the SP said.
On February 19, on the complaint of the girl, an FIR was registered against five accused, including a minor, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“All the five accused were arrested on Monday,” Agarwal said.
Three of the accused were also charged in a similar case three years ago, police said, adding that further probe is on.
