Mumbai: A 19-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly raping his seven-year-old niece at his home in Hyderabad. Police claimed the incident took place after the child came to her maternal grandmother’s house along with her family.

“The girl told her mother that her maternal uncle, who drives a goods auto, had raped her. We registered a rape case against the accused and arrested him,” reported TOI quoting inspector K Madhu Mohan Reddy as saying.
The incident came to light when the minor’s mother saw her torn clothes on March 20. On being asked, the girl shared her ordeal with her mother. Thereafter they reached the police station and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, the police of Begum Bazar police station arrested the accused and registered a case against him under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.
