Mumbai: A 19-year-old youth was arrested for abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia. According to the police, the girl was abducted and raped on the pretext of marriage.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tiwari said that on June 17, a 19-year-old youth had kidnapped a minor in Bansdih.

He said the youth was arrested on Sunday.

Tiwari said a case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act on the complaint of the girl’s brother.

He said the girl has been sent to the hospital for a medical examination.
