2 India Batters Called Jay Shah Complaining About Virat Kohli After WTC Final: Reports

Mumbai: Following India’s World Test Championship (WTC) final defeat against New Zealand, two Team India batters called BCCI Secretary Jay Shah complaining about Virat Kohli, as per reports.

Kohli had pulled up several batsmen in the dressing room which snowballed into a big issue, reports added.

Reports suggest that at least two senior Indian players had taken up the matter with the Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah over the harsh treatment they received. In the WTC final, India’s batting declined as Kohli’s men were bowled out for 170 after the Black Caps won the game with relative ease. Also Read: Rohit As Captain And Rahul, Pant Are My Options As Team India Future Vice-Captains, Says Sunil Gavaskar

According to sources, after India’s loss, Kohli pulled up Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane inside the dressing room and the incident created a huge problem. At the time, when Pujara was on the radar for his indifferent strike rate, vice-captain Rahane was going through a rough patch in his Test career.

Reports said that both the batsmen called up Jay Shah in person following which the BCCI had to intervene and seek feedback from some other cricketers as well. There is also speculation that the BCCI will decide on Kohli’s future as India’s ODI captain after the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, The New Indian Express reports.
