Rishabh Pant To Play T20 World Cup 2024 If He Can Keep Wickets: Jay Shah

Mumbai: The BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that Rishabh Pant, who is scheduled to make his eagerly anticipated return in the IPL later this month, is eligible to represent India in the T20 World Cup “if he can keep [wicket].”

Pant has not been seen since a terrifying vehicle catastrophe that occurred in December of 2022.

“He is batting well, he is keeping well. We will declare him fit very soon,” Shah told PTI. “If he can play the T20 World Cup for us, that will be a big thing for us. He is a big asset for us. If he can keep, he can play the World Cup. Let’s see how he does in the IPL.”

In addition to his fractured wrist and ankle, Pant’s accident left him with a significant right knee injury that needed ligament repair surgery.

Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, has previously declared that Pant would participate in the IPL. Parth Jindal, the co-owner of the Capitals, stated to ESPNcricinfo last month that Pant “has started his wicketkeeping”. Additionally, Jindal stated that he anticipated Pant to “lead from match one” and that he was “likely to be fully fit for the IPL”.

Meanwhile, Rahul reported complained of soreness in his right quadriceps, which kept him out of the final four Test matches against England. After receiving treatment in London, he is anticipated to play for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. It is acknowledged that Rahul is still awaiting approval to sign with the Super Giants.
