2 Killed, 4 Of Same Family Injured In Knife Attack By Neighbour In Thane

Mumbai: Two persons were killed and four members of a family, including three children, were injured when their neighbour attacked them with a knife in Thane’s Bhiwandi, police said.

A senior officer of Shanti Nagar police station said that the horrific incident took place after a small quarrel in the Gaibi Nagar area of ​​Bhiwandi and 45-year-old accused Mohammad Ansarul Haque Luqman Ansari has been arrested.

He said that a case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the IPC and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. Police have named the deceased 42-year-old Kamaruzma Ansari and 35-year-old Imtiaz Mohammad Zubair Khan.

The injured include three children aged 11 to 6 years, all members of the same family, and Kamaruzma Ansari, who has been admitted to a local hospital, the official said. Police said that a few days ago, one of the injured persons, a 36-year-old woman and related to Kamaruzma Ansari, had made some critical remarks against the accused living in their neighbourhood.

Enraged by this, the accused attacked Kamarujama Ansari standing at the entrance of his house with a knife this morning and when his neighbour Imtiaz Khan intervened, he also attacked her. He said that both the injured were killed on the spot due to the stabbing.

When four members of the Kamruzama Ansari family tried to stop the accused Mohammad Ansari, he attacked them too, leaving them injured, the police said. As tension prevailed in the area following the incident, additional police personnel were deployed to maintain peace.
