2nd Wave Of Coronavirus Declining In Delhi, Lockdown Was Successful: Arvind Kejriwal

Mumbai: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today said coronavirus cases in the national capital are reducing and the second wave of the virus is declining.

He added the lockdown was successful in the capital due to the cooperation of the residents.

“Corona cases are going down in Delhi, so is the second wave. With your cooperation lockdown was successful. We’ve increased the number of Oxygen beds in the past few days. Yesterday we started 500 new ICU beds near GTB Hospital. Now there’s no shortage of ICU & Oxygen beds in Delhi,” Kejriwal said.

Commenting on the ongoing vaccination drive in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal Right said that 1.25 lakh doses are being administered every day. He assured that soon over 3 lakh people will get the jabs on a daily basis.

“Right now, we’re administering 1.25 lakh doses every day. We’ll soon begin vaccinating over 3 lakh people every day. We aim to vaccinate all residents of Delhi within the next 3 months. But we’re facing a vaccine shortage. We’re left with stock that will last only a few days,” he added.

Delhi on Monday reported 319 fresh Covid-19 fatalities and 12,651 new infections, the lowest in four weeks, with a positivity rate of 19.10 per cent, according to the health department bulletin.

The dip in new cases, the lowest since April 12, can also be ascribed to a smaller number of tests (66,234) conducted on Sunday.

At 19.10 per cent, the positivity rate is the lowest since April 16, when it stood at 19.7 per cent, according to government data. On April 22, a positivity rate of 36.2 per cent, the highest so far, was recorded.
