Mumbai: Including 22 from Andhra Pradesh and 11 from West Bengal, Congress released its fifth list of 56 candidates for the due Lok Sabha election. The list also included eight candidates from Telangana, six from Odisha, five from Assam and three from Uttar Pradesh.
The list of candidates was released late at night on Monday.
The Congress has called the left parties to have a discussion on to form an alliance.
For Jangipur Lok Sabha seat, Congress has chosen, former president Pranab Mukherjee’s son, Abhijit Mukherjee. Behrampur for former PCC chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and former minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi’s wife Deepa Dasmunshi from Raiganj.
Union minister M M Pallam Raju has been elected for Kakinada and former Rajya Sabha member J D Seelam from Bapatla reserved seat.
For Mangaldoi in Assam, INC has elected Rajya Sabha member Bhubaneswar Kalita and in Kalahandi in Odisha, former Union minister Bhakta Charan Das will be competing.
Nalgonda in Telangana, State party chief Uttam Kumar Reddy was put in the list.
After a meeting of the Congress Central Election Committee chaired by party chief Rahul Gandhi, the list was declared.
Congress has announced a sum of 137 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With this, INC has also listed 36 candidates for the Odisha assembly elections.
Lok Sabha elections will be started on 11th April and will continue till 19th of May. Counting will be started on 23rd May.
