Over 2.5 Lakh Passengers Returned To Odisha Via Shramik Trains Till June 12
Mumbai: As of June 12, more than 2.5 lakh passengers returned to Odisha via Shrimik special trains amid the situation of Coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a release, “As of June 12, over 2 lakh 50 thousand passengers returned to Odisha via Shramik Special Train. The East Coast Railway handled about 558 Shramik Special Trains from its jurisdiction.”
The release stated that out of the number of Shramik Special trains, ECoR has received 238 Shramik trains in its jurisdiction.
Indian Railways is running labour-intensive trains from various parts of the country to the destination of stranded passengers.
About half of the above 235 workers in Odisha received special trains from Gujarat.
Shramik trains have also been received from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi and Maharashtra.
About 306 special trains pass safely through the jurisdiction of ECOR and through food, water and other services which are provided to passengers at various stations.
