The England vs Pakistan series was originally scheduled to be played between the end of July and start of September. However, the Coronavirus pandemic meant that the series was rescheduled and it recently concluded after some hard-fought action. It was an exciting series and showcased some truly world class cricket. It’s given viewers around the world what they have been missing for a long time, top class sports to watch.
Of course, it’s also meant that live cricket betting has returned to players. Previous Matches
Keeping track of how the games have been going so far hasn’t been too hard for viewers. With not too much sport taking place at the moment you can find the results almost anywhere. Of course, there are a few different places that will give you consistent up to date info on the games. The games have been relatively even, with neither team really blowing the other side away. There have been some close wins and a few draws, which has made for plenty of nail-biting games.
The first Test was played between the 5th and the 8th of August. In this game England won by three wickets giving the Brits first blood.
The second game was a draw and that was played between the 13th and 17th of August. The weather severely marred the game all the way through which made it impossible to achieve a result.
Between the 21st and 25th another draw was played out, but this game was also ruined by the terrible rain that refused to stop falling, though James Anderson took his 600th Test wicket on the final day.
On the 28th there was the first match of the T20 series. This game didn’t even get to finish as it was abandoned due to poor weather with England on 131/6.
The 30th saw another T20 played. This time the weather didn’t manage to stop play and England shone, picking up a win by five wickets to go 1-0 up in the series.
This means that England were leading going into the final match, which was played on the 1st of September.
Third T20
Most reports about the third game focused on the precocious talent of Haider Ali. The youngster for Pakistan certainly took the headlines with his performance, helping to ease Pakistan to a win by five runs.
The game itself was an absolute thriller. With it going down to the final ball, it really did have everyone at home watching on the edge of their seats. Pakistan scored 190 for 4 off their 20 overs. With Mohammad Hafeez scoring 86 from 52 balls and Haider Ali helping along with 54 from 33 balls, it left England with a big score to chase.
England looked to have started poorly, with Jonny Bairstow bowled on just his third ball. It definitely felt like it could be a long evening. However, England had managed to successfully chase a score of 195 in the previous test, so they had no intention of giving up in this one. Slowly but surely the runs started to come with Moeen Ali hitting 61 off 33 balls to bring England back into the contest. On the penultimate ball, Tom Curran hit a six which put England up onto a score of 185. Just six runs away from grabbing the win and successfully recording another score of over 190.
However, Haris Rauf bowled an absolutely perfect yorker. It flew too far wide for Curran to get any purchase on and it delivered the match to Pakistan. It meant that Ali, at just 19 and on his debut, had contributed to an excellent win for his side and England lost their first T20 after winning five in a row. It also meant that Pakistan didn’t end the tour without winning a single game and tied the T20 series at 1-1.
England and Pakistan will both move on to further matches after this one – Australia are up next for the hosts. It was good to see that the final game was an instant classic after the poor weather had put a dampener on much of the tour.
