Chattisgarh: Eight Held For Rape Of 15-Yr-Old Girl

Mumbai: Eight people, including four minor boys, have been arrested by the police after an FIR was registered for raping a 15-year-old girl in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh on Monday.

They allegedly sexually assaulted the girl during the last 15 days in the Gandhi Nagar area of ​​the neighboring Serguja district.

The official said that four of the eight accused were arrested on Sunday, while four minors were detained on Monday based on a complaint lodged at Rajpur police station in Balrampur district.

Balrampur Superintendent of Police Ramakrishna Sahu said, “On November 30, the parents of the 9th-grade student had lodged a report saying that their daughter had been missing since November 20, after which the police started searching for her.”

He said that the girl returned to her home on 5 December. She was taken to Rajpur police station by her parents the next day to record her statement.

The arrested accused have been identified as Siddhanath Sagar and Alam Sai, both aged 22, Vinay Tirkey (22) and Surendra Minj (20).

In her statement, the girl told police that she had gone to Ambikapur, about 100 km from Balrampur, on 20 November, where accused Sagar, who knew her clearly, took her to her friend’s room in Gandhi Nagar area and allegedly raped her, the SP said.

Seven of Sagar’s friends, including Sai and others, also sexually abused the girl before she was let go, citing the complaint.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, Sahu said.
