Allow Women To Take NDA Entrance Exam In November: SC To Centre
Women were allowed to be admitted in NDA earlier in August
Mumbai: Supreme Court has told Centre that it cannot vacate its interim order allowing women candidates to take the NDA entrance examination in November.

Earlier this year in August, the centre had allowed women to attempt National Defense Academy (NDA) exams. But they had asked SC to exempt them from this year’s November exam as it was a brief time for them to prepare. They suggested that women can take exams in May 2022.
The centre also added that the government needed time for establishing “appropriate” medical and physical fitness standards, and building “required infrastructure”, which includes “robust physical separation between male and female residential areas”.
This initiative was taken after the Supreme Court pointed out the ‘mindset problem’ and ‘gender discriminatory’ policies when it comes to equal opportunities for men and women in the country’s armed forces.
A petition had argued that the categorical exclusion of eligible female candidates from the NDA was unconstitutional and done entirely based on their sex.
“It is a delight to share this. Women will be admitted in the NDA,” Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, representing the Centre, had said.
