Accused Snatched Our Weapons And Started Firing On Us: Sajjanar On Encounter

Mumbai: Today it was a day were for the first time ever rape accused has been punished with the 10 days of the crime incident.

On 28 Nov 4 men allegedly raped and burnt Hyderabad veterinarian doctor. Notably, the Cyberabad police, in the wee hours of Friday, shot dead all the four accused in an alleged ‘encounter’.

Speaking to the media here, Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said that Law has done its duty.

Sajjan said that “On December 4 and 5, we interrogated the accused after taking the accused into police custody. Today, the police brought them to the crime spot as part of the investigation.”

He claimed that the accused, who was not handcuffed, attacked the police with stones, sticks and then snatched arms from them and opened fire on the officers.

He went on saying, that the police warned therapists and asked them to surrender but they did not pay heed.

“When they refused to stop, we opened fire and they were killed in the encounter.  The body of the accused has been shifted to local govt hospital for post-mortem examination, the top cop stated.

Speaking about the encounter, which has caused mixed reactions, the Commissioner of Police said, “The encounter took place between 5:45 am and 6:15 pm today. The accused were accompanied by around 10 policemen. Two policemen have been injured during the encounter and have been sent to a local hospital. “

Police officers also seized two weapons from the accused. “We suspect that the accused were also involved in several other cases in Karnataka, investigations are on”, Sajjanagar said.

He also said that two police officers suffered “head and severe injuries” during the incident. They have been identified as constable Arvind Gaudu of Nandigama police station and Venkateswara police station in-charge.

The commissioner also categorically denied that any injured police officer had to suffer bullet wounds. He went on to explain that two police guns were recovered from the hands of the accused.

The Cyberabad police commissioner of police has said that the two injured personnel are being treated at a local hospital. Responding to questions whether the police took law into its own hands, Sajjanar said, “law has done its duty”.

He did not, however, reveal the number of bullets that were fired during the exchange and said that the same will be revealed only after the forensic examination is completed and when the report comes out.
