Action Should Be Taken Immediately Against Convicts, Venkaish Naidu On Unnao Rape Case

Mumbai: Soon after a rape survivor was set ablaze in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district Vice President Venkaish Naidu condemned the heinous act and said MPs should send a signal to the society that action should be taken immediately and adequately in such incidents, as a result, these incidents are not repeated again.

“What is needed is not an arrest in a case. We must indicate to the entire country and society that action should be taken immediately, swiftly and adequately in such incidents, so these things are not repeated again, ”the Vice President said in the Rajya Sabha.

He further told the Rajya Sabha that he came to know from the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh that the culprits of the heinous crime have been arrested.

“This entire House condemns the incident. I got in contact with the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, he has explained to me that the culprits have been arrested,” he added.

As per reports, the accused who raped the minor in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district was allegedly abducted on Thursday morning by the same group who raped her nine months ago.

The incident occurred when the rape survivor was going for trial in her court case. The accused took her to an isolated location, poured kerosene and set her ablaze on the spot.
