Active COVID-19 Cases Fall Below 8 Lakh After 73 Days; 62,480 People Test Positive

Mumbai: According to the latest data by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, active COVID-19 cases in India have fallen below 8 lakh after 73 days,

The country reported 62,480 new COVID-19 cases and 1,587 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the overall COVID tally in the country stands at 2,97,62,793. A total of 7,98,656 cases are currently active in the country, according to the health ministry.

Meanwhile, the country has reported 1,587 deaths, 88,977 discharges in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said

The new deaths pushed India’s Covid-19 death toll to 2,85,80,647, while the total recoveries surged to 2,85,80,647.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today informed that a total of 38,71,67,696 samples have been tested till June 17. Of these, 19,29,476 samples were tested yesterday.

The Health Ministry had informed on Thursday that the total COVID-19 vaccine coverage of the country has crossed 26.86 crores.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country till 7 pm yesterday has crossed 26.86 crores (26,86,65,914).

A total of 18,94,803 vaccine doses were administered as the first dose and today 88,017 vaccine doses were administered as the second dose in the age group of 18-44 years.

Cumulatively, 4,93,56,276 persons across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose and a total of 10,58,514 have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.
