BEST Workers To Hold Talks With Bus Management On Wage Revision

Mumbai: BEST workers union leader Shashank Rao will hold talks with the bus management on wage revision and other issues.

Union workers said, there will be a workers’ meeting at around 6 pm in Shirodkar Hall in Parel. The decision to strike from midnight will be decided in this meeting.

Rao said, “The BEST employees are firm on the indefinite strike from midnight. We are demanding a new wage agreement with the management. If management fails to address the issue, we will go off duties voluntarily in protest.”

BEST General Manager Surendra Kumar Bagade said that the administration was ready to sign a salary agreement after discussing various issues. He announced that Rs 200 crore gratuity will be disturbed this month to the retiring employees.

BEST committee chairman Anil Patankar said, “ We are confident that there will be no strikes as our discussions with the union recently have been positive.”
