Bhagwant Mann Sworn In As Chief Minister Of Punjab

Mumbai: Bhagwant Mann was on Wednesday sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and other senior party leaders were present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Over three lakh people are expected to attend officials were quoted by PTI.

According to officials, around 8,000 to 10,000 security personnel have been deployed for the event. Top police officers – at the level of Inspector General and Senior Superintendent of Police – have been deputed. A school holiday has also been announced in the district on March 16.

Around 30 ambulances and 12 first aid teams will also be deployed to avoid any health emergency.

The 48-year-old chief minister of Punjab, who was elected, won the Dhuri assembly seat by over 58,000 votes in the assembly elections. He defeated Congress candidate Dalveer Singh Goldie by a margin of 58,206 votes. AAP won the Punjab Assembly with 92 out of 117 seats.
