BJP MLA Pragya Thakur Removed From Parliament’s Defence Panel After Godse Remark

Mumbai: In a view of Pragya Thakur’s Godse remark, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled Thakur from Parliament’s Defence Committee.

The development comes after her remark on Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse calling him a ‘Desh bhakti’ (patriot).

Thakur has also been barred from attending any parliamentary meetings of the BJP during the session.

The decision was announced by BJP acting president JP Nadda, saying, “His statement in Parliament yesterday is condemnable. The BJP never endorses such a statement or ideology. “

He said that we have decided that Pragya Singh Thakur will be removed from the Defense Advisory Committee and that he will not be allowed to attend parliamentary party meetings in this session.

During a discussion on the Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill in Lok Sabha session yesterday when DMK member A Raja cited Godse’s statement as to why he killed Gandhi, Thakur intervened and did not give Raja an example of ‘patriot’ asked for

As a result, loud ruckus and crying began in Parliament and opposition members began to protest. BJP members later convinced Thakur to sit.
