BMC Orders Removal Of Political Banners From Vaccination Centres

Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has directed that political banners, advertisements and hoardings be removed from COVID-19 vaccination centres.

He said the order that advertisements, banners or hoardings put up by corporators, MLAs, MPs and others at vaccination centres should be removed if they are not taken down upon request.

The commissioner said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has received several complaints about banners or hoardings claiming that such and such politicians have facilitated vaccination.

There are 323 active COVID-19 vaccination centres in Mumbai, including 79 in private hospitals and 20 in government hospitals. The civic body has opened at least one vaccination centre in each ward.

The BMC had on Thursday postponed the vaccination drive due to lack of dosage.

So far 33,74,261 people have been administered COVID- 19 vaccine doses in Mumbai; as many as 49,833 jabs were given on Wednesday.
