CAB Is An Attack On The Indian Constitution,Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi

Mumbai: As the Citizenship Amendment Bill was cleared by the Lok Sabha with 311 votes, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed Narendra Modi-led government, saying that the Centre’s move would “destroy the foundation” of India.

“The CAB is an attack on the Indian constitution. Anyone who supports it is attacking and attempting to destroy the foundation of our nation,” Gandhi wrote on Twitter.

The bill seeks to provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

The bill opposing the mass protests in the northeastern states will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha at 2 pm on Wednesday. The CAB aims to guarantee Indian citizenship to non-Muslim minorities, ie Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians, Jains and Parsis from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
