Combating COVID-19: AIFF Contributes Rs 25 Lakh To PM Cares Fund

Mumbai: The All India Football Federation on Wednesday resolved to donate Rs 25 lakh to the PM-Care Fund to support the fight against the menace of coronavirus.

AIFF has also instructed all employees to work from home from 14 March, and all football activities under the aegis of AIFF have also been suspended until further notice.

“The love, care and support of the countrymen have provided inspiration to all of us. Therefore, the time has come for us to pay what we can to our country. The decision to donate Rs 25 lakhs is unanimous. We need to stand together and help each other, hoping to overcome the crisis,” AIFF President Praful Patel said in an official statement.

On Saturday, PM Narendra Modi announced relief in the Prime Minister’s Civil Assistance and Emergency Situation (PM-CARS) fund and appealed to all the countrymen to express their support for it.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India increased to 1,637 on Wednesday.

The death toll due to the COVID-19 rose to 38, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
