Congress Applauds ISRO For Chandrayaan Launch

Mumbai: Congress congratulated the space agency ISRO for the successful launch of its second moon mission, Chandrayaan-2 on Monday.

The party also recalled the initiative of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to grant the project to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and former Prime Minister Manmohan in 2008.

India successfully launched Chandrayaan-2 on its powerful rocket GSLV-MkIII-M1 from Sriharikota spaceport on Monday, so that the unidentified South Pole of the Moon can be removed by rolling the rover.

Congress tweeted after the launch, “Congratulations to the team ISRO for the successful launch of Chandrayaan 2.”

Expressing gratitude to all the ISRO scientists and space engineers, the Chief Spokesman of the party, Randeep Singh Surjewala, said that he has made one hundred and twenty million Indians to be honoured day and night.

“This is a good time to remember the visionary move of India’s first PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to fund space research through INCOSPAR in 1962 which later became ISRO. And also Dr Manmohan Singh for sanctioning the Chandrayan2 project in 2008,” the Congress said.

“India’s ‘Tryst With Destiny’ continues with the successful launch of Chandraayan2. There are defining moments like these that make us a great nation. My gratitude to all scientists and space engineers at ISRO who have toiled day and night to make 130 Crore Indians proud,” Surjewala said on Twitter.

After launch on July 15, mission success for ISRO scientists brought great relief. Just one hour left due to a technical failure in the rocket.

A mission of 978 crores, which will make a huge leap in India’s space research and will be the only fourth country to the rover on the moon, scientists were rescheduled on Monday after fixing a technical glitch in the three-stage rocket.
