Congress Releases Manifesto For Odisha Elections

Mumbai: Odisha Congress released its manifesto for the upcoming elections on Sunday, in which several promises were made for women in government jobs, parliament and assembly, including loans up to Rs 2 lakh and 33 per cent reservation for women.

Focusing on farmers, youth, women, tribals and Dalits, in the 32-page document, “Your Voice Your Choice” promised to give 72,000 rupees to every five crore poor families under the ‘justice’ scheme announced by AIC went.
With Odisha coming together for assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections, the party’s state unit issued a separate manifesto in which besides the upliftment of tribals and Dalits, concrete steps to address issues such as unemployment, agricultural crisis, protection of women and empowerment was promised to lift.

Issuing a manifesto in the presence of senior party leaders here, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik said under the NYYY scheme, the assistance of Rs. 6,000 per month will be transferred directly to the women’s account of the eligible family.

In the promise of employment for all, the manifesto states that in each family, one person will have a job in the public or private sector, while the unemployed will be entitled to unemployment allowance of 3,000 rupees per month.

It has been stated in the manifesto that all the contractual employees of the public sector will be regularized, whereas there will be no contractual employment in education, health care and social security services.

It also promises to give home land to the homeless. The Five Year Plan will be unveiled to give a home to every landless family of the village and to give shelter to every urban helpless family.

Announcing the minimum support price of Rs. 2,600 per quintal for paddy, the manifesto said that every farmer family will get special financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 for the next three years.

On tribal welfare, the manifesto said that all forest crime cases involving criminal acts will be withdrawn before 100 days of forming the government, whereas the management of forest resources was vested with the Gram Sabha and Pesa Act, 1996.

On the empowerment of women, the manifesto promises 33 percent of the quota in Parliament and state assembly and 33 percent of reservoirs for them in the jobs of the central and state government.

At all levels, free education and needy families will be provided financial assistance for their daughter’s marriage, whereas widows and single women over 60 years of age will be given a monthly pension of Rs. 2,000.

The party’s manifesto said that a comprehensive state education policy will be brought within one year and the right to education will be extended to Chloe 12, while the allocation for education will be increased to at least 20 percent of the budget.
