Congress Takes A Dig At Modi Over Israeli PM’s ‘Join Our Party’ Comment, Says ‘First Step To Save India’

Mumbai: A day after Israeli PM Naftali Bennett jokingly asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join the former party, the Indian National Congress took a dig at the Indian PM and said it was a “great idea”.

“Great idea from PM Bennett; first step to saving India,” the Congress said on social media platform Twitter.

India’s ‘Grand Old Party’ said this in response to a video shared by the Bharatiya Janata Party on the micro-blogging platform, in which Bennett can be heard praising PM Modi.

Bennett told Prime Minister Modi, “You are the most popular person in Israel.”

To that, PM Modi said, “Thank you, thank you.”

The Israeli PM further asked Modi to join his Yamina Party.

“Come and join my party,” Bennett can be heard saying, to which both leaders laughed and shook hands.

PM Modi and his Israeli counterpart shared the moment of light during their first formal meeting in Glasgow on the sidelines of the COP26 summit on Tuesday.

During the summit, the two countries reviewed their bilateral relations and exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in the areas of technology and innovation.

Modi and Bennett met after their brief interaction on Monday during the climate conference.
