Coronavirus Cases in India rise to 74: Health Ministry

Mumbai: According to recent reports in India, the number of coronavirus patients has increased to 74 with 14 new cases, including nine from Maharashtra and one each from Delhi, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh and foreign nationals. on Thursday.

Giving breakup state-wise, the ministry said that Delhi has registered six positive cases and Uttar Pradesh 10. Karnataka has four cases, Maharashtra 11 and Ladakh three.

In addition, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab have reported one case each. There have been 17 cases reported in Kerala, including three patients who were discharged last month when they recovered from the infection.

The total number of 74 confirmed cases includes 17 foreigners — 16 Italian tourists and a Canadian, the ministry officials said.

As the infectious disease with flu-like symptoms has spread worldwide and has been declared an epidemic by the World Health Organization, the Cabinet Secretary has stated that the provisions of Section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, to the States and Union Territories apply, therefore, all the advisories issued are applicable to the Union Health Ministry and the State Governments.

According to the revised travel advisory, India has suspended all visas except certain categories, such as diplomatic and employment, until April 15 to spread coronavirus.

The suspension will apply from 1300 GMT on 13 March to the port of departure.
