Corruption Case: SC Puts Stay On Criminal Proceedings Against BS Yediyurappa

Mumbai: In a huge relief for Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa the Supreme Court has stayed the probe in the alleged corruption case involving 24 acres of government land.

BS Yediyurappa moved the Supreme Court against the March 21 order of the Karnataka High Court, setting aside a special court order refusing to take action against BSY in the 10-year-old illegal land scam case.

BS Yediyurappa had moved the Supreme Court against the March 21 order of the Karnataka High Court where a special court’s order of refusing to proceed against BSY in a 10-year-old illegal land scam case was set aside.

The Karnataka High Court had directed the special court to take cognizance of the crimes against Yediyurappa and proceeded on the basis of the charge sheet filed by the Lokayukta police in 2012.

Bengaluru resident Alam Pasha questioned the 2016 special court order in which a case was registered against Yeddyurappa.

According to Karnataka Lokayukta’s charge sheet, Yeddyurappa misused his position to quash the illegal acquisition of land for industrial purposes. Former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu was also named in the charge sheet.

The land acquired by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board in 2006 to set up a hardware park in Bengaluru was revoked and released to private individuals.

A report was filed by the Lokayukta police after it investigated the allegations and dropped cases against nine people due to lack of evidence.
