“We have made it mandatory for the people of Chandigarh to wear a face mask or cloth since Wednesday,” said Manoj Parida, a Chandigarh consultant.

He said that those who dismantle the order will be warned by the police. However, a decision on whether to impose the fine on the violators remains to be done, Mr Parida said.

The UT of Chandigarh has reported 18 coronavirus cases so far and of them, seven have been cured, Mr Parida said.

Mr. Parida informed Badnore that the number of positive cases in Chandigarh has come down to 11 due to curfew measures and observation of social distance by residents.
