COVID-19: Delhi Govt Orders Municipal Corporation Commissioners Sets More Than 500 Beds & Mobile Washbasins

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday directed the municipal corporations to install mobile washbasins in the national capital as part of preventive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Chief Minister said that in case of outbreak of disease, more than 500 beds have been ready for COVID-19 cases.

While addressing a media briefing after a review meeting on Delhi government’s effort on the ground to contain coronavirus.

“We have ordered all MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) commissioners and all (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) SDMs to apply soap and water at different places. They have asked to set up mobile washbasins so that people can wash their hands more frequently. Hand sanitizers will be put at entry and exit points of buildings,” said Kejriwal.

“It spreads immediately and if people will need to be hospitalized. So there are enough beds for that. We have prepared over 500 beds.

Seven cases of the disease have been reported in the national capital. One of them has been killed, two persons have been recovered and four are injured.

“There were seven confirmed cases of coronavirus in the capital; unfortunately, one person has died. While two have died and 4 are recovering.”
Kejriwal asked the evacuees to avoid meeting people.

He said, “We have domestic quarantine people, who have come in contact with Delhi patients. I want to appeal to those who have been asked to quarantine the house, they should strictly follow the rules. They should meet people should avoid.”

During the briefing, Kejriwal also announced that all gyms, night clubs and spas in the national capital will remain closed till March 31.

Kejriwal said, “All the gyms, night clubs, will be closed by March 31. Except for weddings, no gatherings with more than 50 persons will be allowed. For weddings, we also request that if they postpone Please do so.”

A total of 110 cases of coronavirus, including 17 foreign nationals, have been confirmed across India, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday.
