Crowd Claps, Cheers As Smriti Zubin Irani Sworn In As Cabinet Minister

Mumbai: During the first term of the Modi government, one of the most criticized cabinet ministers, actress-turned-politician, Smriti Irani took the oath of office on Thursday to become a part of Modi Cabinet on Thursday.

While Irani stepped to take oath she was welcomed with claps and cheer from the crowd gathered at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

In early 2010, Irani was appointed the National Secretary of BJP and on 24th June she was appointed the All India President of BJP Mahila Morcha, BJP Women’s Front. In August 2011, he took oath as a Member of Parliament for the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.

In 2014, Irani fought against the general election of Rahul Gandhi in the Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh. Iranians lost by 1,07,923 votes, 12.32% margin. On May 26, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed him as Minister for Human Resource Development in his Cabinet. Due to a lack of formal high education, many people criticized her appointment.

In July 2016, the Ministry of Human Resource Development was taken away from Irani, and they were given the Ministry of Textiles rather than Cabinet reshuffle. It was widely viewed by many political analysts as a reaction in the centre of many disputes by his ministry.

In July 2017, he was given additional charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (India) when former minister M. Venkaiah Naidu resigned from the ministry to participate in the Vice Presidential election.

On May 14, 2018, the ministry was removed from it and its deputy Rajyavardhan Singh Rathod was extended to the portfolio. He will be the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
Irani, in 2019 general elections, in Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh, won against Rahul Gandhi, Congress candidate, by a margin of 55,120 votes.

Smriti Irani won many more hearts when she participated in the funeral of BJP worker Surendra Singh, who was shot dead after the election results were declared.

Popularity and respect became clear through Smriti Irani’s events over the last few days when she went to the Rashtrapati Bhawan to take oath as a cabinet minister.
