Cyclone Fani: PM Narendra Modi To Visit Odisha To Look After Situation

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that since the beginning of the cyclone Fani in Odisha on Friday, he will visit the state on May 6 to take stock of the situation. “Day after tomorrow, on 6th morning, I will be going to Odisha to take stock of the situation arising in the wake of cyclone Fani,” he said.

Spoke to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Ji and discussed situation prevailing due to Cyclone Fani. Assured continuous support from Central Government in the wake of the cyclone. The entire nation stands in solidarity with all those affected by the cyclone in different parts,” he said in another tweet.

In particular, Cyclone Phani, on Friday, a landslide on the eastern coast of Odisha and claimed the life of at least eight people and hundreds injured.

The weather agency also said that the storm was centred at West coast of Odisha, 110 kilometres south-west of Odisha, 80 km south-west of Digha and 210 kilometres south-west of Kolkata 20.30 hours on coastal Odisha.

Deputy Director General of Regional Meteorological Center said that Fani will continue in north, northeast direction and will reach East Burdwan-Hooghly border and Nadia will be weak on cyclonic storms through Bangladesh on Saturday afternoon.
