Daily Cases In India Fall As 2.63 Lakh Test +ve; Highest One-Day Deaths Reported

Mumbai: According to the Ministry of Health, India recorded 2,63,533 new COVID19 cases, 4,22,436 discharges and 4,329 deaths on Tuesday, the highest daily deaths in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of cases in the country stands at 2,52,28,996. 2,15,96,512 people have been discharged so far, while the death toll stands at 2,78,719.

There are 33,53,765 active cases in the country. So far 18,44,53,149 people have been vaccinated. Earlier, the highest number of daily deaths occurred on May 12, when 4,205 cases were reported in the country within just 24 hours.

On 8 May, the day after registering the highest daily spike of 4.14 cases in the country, the deadly epidemic caused 4,187 deaths.

The Union Health Ministry had also reported that the trend of declining weekly positivity rate was also seen which is now 18.17 per cent. It stated that the national recovery rate has improved to 84.81 per cent whereas the death rate is currently 1.10 per cent.
