Deepak Chahar, Suryakumar Yadav Ruled Out Of T20I Series vs SL, No Replacements Announced

Mumbai: Fast bowler Deepak Chahar and batter Suryakumar Yadav have been ruled out of the T20I series against Sri Lanka, which will begin in Lucknow tomorrow.

Chahar sustained a right quadriceps injury during bowling while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a fielding attempt in the third and final T20I against West Indies on Sunday.

“They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injuries,” stated an official release.

After winning the T20 series against West Indies, Team India would now like to maintain its form in the three-match series starting against Sri Lanka from Thursday.

Three T20 Internationals and two Test matches will be played between India and Sri Lanka and the first match of the series will be played in Lucknow on Thursday.

Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur have been rested for the series against Sri Lanka and hence it will give Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer a chance to show what they are capable of.
