Delhi Government To Install CCTV Cameras, Panic Buttons, GPS In 5,500 DTC & Cluster Buses

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said his government will install CCTV cameras, panic buttons and GPS in the existing 5,500 DTC and cluster buses.

While talking in a conference he said that his government will fix the three CCTV cameras and ten panic buttons will be installed in each bus, adding that the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of women in the city.

Kejriwal said the new buses which are being procured already have CCTV cameras, panic buttons and Global Positioning System (GPS). Last month, the Delhi government had rolled out 100 standard buses. Adding to it the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal added 100 more buses In this clustering scheme.

The introduction of the 100 additional buses on November 28 increased the total number of cluster bus fleet operated by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal System (DIMTS) to 2,000 buses, stated news agency PTI.

He also said that the Ashram flyover will be extended up to the DND flyover so as the decongest the area around the Ashram that often reels under heavy traffic jams and congestion. “The project would cost 128 crores and will be completed in one year,” said Kejriwal.
