Dilip Walse Likely To Be Next Home Minister Of Maharashtra: Reports
Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) sources said Maharashtra Labor and Excise Minister Dilip Walse Patil is under consideration for the post of Home Minister following the resignation of Anil Deshmukh.
Deshmukh, who is facing corruption charges levelled by the former police commissioner Param Bir Singh, submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday.
The developments came after the Bombay High Court on Monday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to initiate a preliminary inquiry into allegations of corruption against Deshmukh by the former commissioner of Mumbai Police.
The court also directed the agency to register an FIR if any cognizable offence is found. The court also stated that Anil Deshmukh is the Home Minister and an impartial probe should be done by the police.
