ED Raids 7 Locations In Mumbai & Pune Linked To Maharashtra Minister Anil Parab

Mumbai: Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at locations linked to Maharashtra Transport Minister and Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab in connection with alleged irregularities in a land deal in the coastal Dapoli area of Ratnagiri and other charges.

After a fresh case was registered by the central probe agency under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the report said Mumbai and Pune were among the cities where searches were conducted.

Searches were also conducted in Dapoli town, where the state transport minister has a resort. There is also news of the presence of officials of the investigating agency at Parab’s residence.

The agency’s action pertains to a parcel of land in Dapoli, which was allegedly bought by Parab in 2017 for Rs. 1 crore, but it was registered in 2019.

This land was later sold in 2020 to one of the people involved in the searches for a consideration of Rs. 1.10 crore, the tax department had said earlier.

Earlier in February, Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik were arrested in a money-laundering case involving 1993 Mumbai blasts mastermind Dawood Ibrahim. Even after three months, he is still in jail.

The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance has alleged misuse of investigative agencies against its leaders by the ruling BJP at the Centre.

The information was received about the start of the search at around 7 am on Thursday. Earlier, Parab was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in a case related to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
