Family Of An Ahmedabad Blasts Convict Rallied With SP Chief For Votes: Yogi Adityanath

Mumbai: UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that the family of one of the convicts in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blast case rallied with Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav asking for votes for SP.

Addressing a public meeting in Pilibhit, the chief minister said, “You can imagine… Nai hawa hai, wahi SP hai, SP ka haath, terrorists ke saath (there’s a new wave, but the SP is the same; hands of the SP are with terrorists). This has been proven once again.”

Adityanath said an Ahmedabad court had on Friday sentenced 38 terrorists in the 2008 serial blasts case.

“Death sentence and life imprisonment were given. Some of them were terrorists from UP. Family members of one of them were seen along with the SP chief seeking votes for the party,” he said.

Further attacking the SP, Adityanath alleged that “Annadata (grain growers) used to die by suicide, and the poor starved to death” during the rule of previous governments.

“There was jungle raj, and criminals had seized power. Police stations were run by history-sheets, and businesses were destroyed, youth were unemployed,” he said.

The Chief Minister assured that Pilibhit will be getting a medical college.

Polling for the third phase of the elections will be held in 59 Assembly seats in 16 districts of the state tomorrow. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
