FIR Lodged Against Congress ‘Milind Deora’ For Violating Model Code of Conduct

Mumbai: Model Code of Conduct violated in order to register an FIR against Congress candidate Milind Deora of South Mumbai. The news agency ANI told that a case has been registered under section 171 of the IPC (making false statements for elections) and Section 125 of the Representation of the People Act.

Deora, who had been appointed the head of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee instead of Sanjay Nirupam last month, had made a controversy after insisting the people to teach Shivsena a lesson to insult the Jain community. “Shiv Sena has been against minorities … Some years ago it had insulted the Jains by cooking out of the Jain temple. Remember, you have to teach them a lesson, “Deora had said.

Milind Deora, President of Mumbai Congress, was a member of the Lower House of the Parliament of India, 15th Lok Sabha from Mumbai South constituency. He is the current President of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee. Deora is the former minister of state with the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Shipping within the Government of India.

He won the 2004 election, in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Deora was again elected from the Mumbai South constituency, this time with a difference of 1,12,682 votes. Milind Deora was inducted in 2011 as the Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology, Government of India.s with a margin of 10,000 votes against BJP’s Jaywantiben Mehta.
