Focussed Not On Completing Ton, But On Staying On The Pitch: Sneh Rana

India is now slated to lock horns against Australia in a women's day-night Test match

Mumbai: India Women all-rounder Sneh Rana, who was 20 runs short of scoring a hundred on Test debut against England, said that she was focussing on staying on the pitch for her team and not on completing her century.

“At that time, I didn’t focus much on scoring a century, because my team needed me at that time, so I didn’t think much about scoring a century… I had kept it simple by the ball to ball and to contribute for the sake of the team,” Sneh Rana said in a post-match conference.

Sneh Rana’s unbeaten 80 kept England on the lead on the final day of the one-off Test at the Bristol County Ground here. She formed a vital partnership with Tania Bhatia and helped India go ahead with a draw.

Referring to their crucial partnership, Sneh said, “There was no panic between us. We were just following our core principles. Even though they were sledding, we didn’t mind them and the result came.”

“This is a special feeling. You get to learn many things from your seniors. Patience plays an important role here which I learned from my seniors and through coaches on nets,” she said.

With that scintillating innings, Sneh became the first Indian woman and fourth woman to take 50+ scores and 4+ wickets on Test debut. The 27-year-old from Dehradun also highlighted what it means to play Tests and how patience plays an important role in the longer format of the game.
