Former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi’s Son Arrested For Providing False Details In Poll Affidavit

Mumbai: The son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, Amit, was arrested by the police from his residence in Bilaspur, ANI reported.

Reports said that Amit Jogi has been falsely accused of placing himself in the category of Scheduled Tribes. He allegedly lied about his birthplace on his election affidavit.

Superintendent of Police Prashant Aggarwal told PTI that the arrest was made after a police complaint lodged against him by BJP candidate Sameera Packra from Marwahi seat in the 2013 assembly elections.

Paikra said in his complaint that Amit Jogi, while filing his nomination papers for the 2013 state elections, gave incorrect information about his birthplace in the affidavit.

According to Paikra, he has mentioned his place of birth as Sarbahara village in the Gaurela area of ​​Bilaspur, claiming that he was born in the US, the official said.

Amit Jogi later won the assembly election from Marwahi seat of Bilaspur reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. After an investigation for nearly six months, he was arrested on Tuesday, Aggarwal said.

“Amit Jogi was arrested from Marwahi Sadan in Bilaspur, based on the FIR lodged against him in the district’s Gaurela police station in February this year,” he said.
