‘He Can go Join Any Party He Likes’: Nitish on Pawan Verma’s Letter Over JD(U)’s Alliance With BJP in Delhi

Mumbai: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his displeasure at the former’s statement, calling it “surprising”. His statement comes after a senior Janata Dal (United) leader publicly called out Kumar for forming an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Delhi polls.

Nitish Kumar said that if there is any issue with the party’s stand, it needs to be discussed in party meetings. Rejecting such antics, Kumar said that the public statement by Pawan Verma, who is also a close aide, was “surprising”.

Kumar said that Pawan Verma can join any other party if he wants.

“If anyone has an issue, the person can discuss it in party or party meetings, but such public statements are surprising. He can go and attend any party that he likes, my best wishes,” Nitish Kumar said.

The JD (U) national spokesperson, Pawan Verma, said in his letter that he was ‘deeply concerned’ with his party’s alliance with the BJP for the Delhi elections, and is seeking ‘ideological clarity’. He said that the party leader was felt in private and that there was an urgent need to ‘harmonize’ the JDU for the actions the party took publicly.

Varma had made his letter public on Twitter on January 21. In that, he had also said, “This is the letter I have written to Nitish Kumar asking him how the JD(U) has formed an alliance with the BJP for the Delhi elections, given his own views on the BJP, and the massive national outrage against the divisive CAA-NPR-NRC scheme”.
