Heavy Rains In Kerala Holiday Declared For School And Education Institutions

Mumbai: In the wake of heavy rains in Kerala, holidays were announced for school and educational institutions in Kannur Kasargod and parts of Kottayam due to heavy rainfall in the state.

The state has predicted heavy rains under the influence of southwest monsoon and there is a red alert in some districts of the state.

Earlier, due to heavy rains, the shutter of four dams was opened. The state government has established relief camps throughout the state.

To control the swelling water coming to full capacity due to continuous rain, two shutters of the Malankara dam located in Idukki and nine shutters of Bhutahthanketu in Ernakulam district and each shutter of Kalkutti and Pamba dams were opened in the morning. July 19th

Local authorities in Kerala issued an alert on Saturday and there is a possibility of a drastic fall in the next few days. This step was taken after heavy heavy rain forecast in different parts of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin area.

Families living near coastal areas have been evacuated from the affected areas and have been shifted to the relief camps established by the authorities.
