I Have Been Framed, I’m A Victim Of Conspiracy: Partha Chatterjee

Mumbai: A day after being sacked as West Bengal minister, Partha Chatterjee stated that he has been framed.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday removed Chatterjee from ministerial and all party posts in the Trinamool Congress, five days after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the alleged teacher recruitment scam in the state.

“I’m a victim of a conspiracy,” the tainted leader told reporters while being taken to a hospital for a medical checkup.

Chatterjee, who held the post of Industries Minister in the Mamata Banerjee-led state government, was arrested on July 23 by the federal money laundering agency probing the money trail of the SSC scam.

The arrests came a day after the ED conducted massive searches at the residences of Chatterjee and Mukherjee and several others as part of its probe into alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff in government schools through the school. Service Commission (SSC).

On July 23, the ED seized Rs 21 crore in cash and crores of gold jewellery from Mukherjee’s flat.

The probe agency also recovered unaccounted money and gold ornaments and foreign currency worth Rs 27.9 crore from another flat of Mukherjee late on Wednesday evening.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was the education minister when the alleged illegal recruitments were made.

Both Chatterjee and Mukherjee have been sent to ED custody till August 3.
